Tiptree Youth Project Outreach (TYPO) is a Christian charity based in Tiptree in Essex. We offer a forum where young people can feel safe, have fun, get active, explore ideas and make friends.
We set up in 2011 as a collaboration of four churches, because we are concerned for the young people of Tiptree and surrounding areas. The village has been growing rapidly over the last few years and continues to do so, with more and more families moving into the area. But there hasn’t been a parallel development in resources for young people. There’s not much for them do, the churches are mostly older people, and the brighter lights of Colchester and Chelmsford are difficult to get to when you don’t yet drive. Our aim is to try and fill the gap.
We make no secret of the fact that we are Christians, or that we want to introduce young people to the love of God and to new ways of doing church. But our activities are for those of all faiths and none. Everyone is welcome, and nobody is going to be hijacked with God stuff. We will always make it clear which of our activities are specifically for those who want to explore the Christian faith.
